Travel Information to Sheffield and The Edge

The Edge location can be found on this map provided by the University of Sheffield Conference Office.

Airports

The airports most commonly used by overseas visitors to the UK are: Manchester (nearest to Sheffield), London Heathrow and London Gatwick.

Heathrow: Take the fast train service to Paddington and then the underground to St. Pancras Rail Station. A frequent service to Sheffield is available on Midland Mainline (total journey time about 3-4 hours). Alternatively from Heathrow take the Piccadilly Line (London Underground) to Kings Cross-St Pancras then go to the main train station at St Pancras.

Gatwick: Take the Thames Link train to Kings Cross-St Pancras and then as above (this connection involves 200m on foot; total journey time about 3-4 hours).

Manchester: Take the train to Sheffield from the airport (at some times this may involve a change at Manchester Piccadilly), (journey time 100 min). This is by far the easiest option and connecting flights to Manchester from other UK airports can normally be obtained.

By Train

From Sheffield Station a Taxi will take you to The Edge (about £8-10) (Exit to the Left for Taxis).

Train times are available on the web.

By Car

From here, take the third exit, the A61(S) along Sheaf Street, following the Ring Road signs, and passing the Railway Station on the left. Stay in the centre lane approaching the Sheaf Square roundabout, and then take the first exit into Suffolk Road, again following signs for the Ring Road Turn right onto the Ring Road and now follow signs for the University. Continue straight on as far as the third roundabout, the Brook Hill roundabout. Take the first exit, following signs for Glossop A57, passing the main University Western Bank precinct.
